Meyer previously served as curator of the renowned Byron Reed Collection at The Durham Museum in Omaha, Nebraska. She is currently an Associate Professor and Associate Dean of the Department of Special Collections and Archives of the Health Sciences Library at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
“On behalf of the Central States Numismatic Society, I extend our sincere thanks to Carrie Meyer for her service on the Board of Governors,” said CSNS President Mitch Ernst. “During her tenure, Carrie generously shared her time, talents, and perspective in support of the Society and its mission. Her contributions helped strengthen CSNS and will have a lasting impact on the organization.”
The CSNS Board includes elected members and two appointed seats for individuals with professional and nonprofit leadership experience. Tucker was appointed to fill the vacancy left by Meyer.
“As president of Central States, I am pleased to welcome Dennis Tucker to our Board of Governors,” Ernst said. “Dennis brings not only an unparalleled record of service and achievement in numismatics but also valuable nonprofit leadership experience that will help guide the Society into the future.”
Tucker has collected coins since age seven and is an author, researcher and member of national and international numismatic organizations. He served two terms, from 2016 to 2024, on the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee.
He also spent two decades as publisher of Whitman Publishing, where he oversaw A Guide Book of United States Coins, known as the Red Book, and other numismatic titles.
Tucker said his work on the board will focus on education, communications and community, young collectors, and good governance. He cited CSNS’s support for education, its Newman Numismatic Portal Symposium, its state-focused convention outreach, and its programs for young collectors among areas of interest.
