Behind the RCNA Bourse

For most collectors, the RCNA Convention begins when they walk onto the bourse floor. For Jeff Wilson, it never really ends.

As the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association’s volunteer bourse chair, Wilson spends virtually every day of the year working behind the scenes to help organize Canada’s premier numismatic event. From dealer recruitment and table assignments to floor plans and logistics, his work helps ensure hundreds of collectors enjoy a successful convention.

In the latest issue of Canadian Coin News (Vol. 64 No. 7), released today, Wilson provides a rare look at the planning, challenges and volunteer effort required to bring the 2026 RCNA Convention in Winnipeg to life.

The story explores how the convention adapted to a venue change, expanded its bourse footprint and continues to attract dealers and collectors from across Canada. Wilson also discusses the importance of dealer participation and the relationships he has built with the numismatic community over the years.

Readers will also learn about the convention’s educational symposium, tours of the Royal Canadian Mint’s Winnipeg facility, the popular CAFNE reception and the many volunteers whose efforts often go unnoticed but are essential to the event’s success.

“It’s one of the biggest money-makers for the organization,” Wilson says of the bourse, which remains at the heart of every RCNA convention.
